We’ve all heard that time is money. But time can also mean membership! As a busy association volunteer, it’s easy to think you may not be able to make a meaningful difference. But if you have just 15 minutes, here are 5 simple ways you could effectively and efficiently grow membership:
1. Follow your organization on social media
This is an easy way to become engaged with the organization, stay up-to-date on trending topics and start conversations with fellow members. Post news, updates or photos using your association’s hashtags to capture the attention of others in your industry or profession.
2. Write a blog post or submit news
Most associations have a blog, newsletter or other way to share content. Ask how you can contribute and don’t be shy about sharing!
3. Post a job or share openings
If your organization has a job board, check it regularly, post any openings you know of, and share postings with your network.
4. Write a testimonial
Prospective members want to know why they should join, and who better to tell them than you?
5. Forward event information to a friend
Know someone in the industry or profession that isn’t a member? Forward information about upcoming events, webinars or other resources to them. This gives them a great way to experience the organization’s value, and hopefully become a member as well.
The steps above may seem small, but the results can be big. What other tips do you have to grow membership in 15 minutes or less?
