When the COVID-19 pandemic halted in-person conferences, the Indiana Commercial Board of Realtors (ICBR) and the Indiana Commercial Real Estate Alliance (CREA) faced a critical challenge: How could they continue delivering high-quality, accessible education to commercial real estate professionals across the state?
With an annual requirement of 12 continuing education (CE) hours to maintain a broker’s license, ICBR and CREA knew they couldn’t let the disruption slow them down. They are the only commercial-focused associations in Indiana offering all six required CE courses. So, the stakes were high, and they needed a solution.
Challenges with an Outdated and Inefficient Platform
The existing Learning Management System (LMS), implemented in 2020, had become a consistent source of frustration for both members and staff. The platform’s limited functionality made it difficult for users to navigate, often requiring members to contact staff for assistance, creating inefficiencies and added workload for the team.
Their solution was to upgrade the LMS. This would allow them to uphold their commitment to professional development in Indiana’s commercial real estate sector while offering convenience to users.
A Collaborative Overhaul
The team approached the challenge with collaboration. Each member of the staff took ownership of different components of the LMS search and implementation process. After evaluating various platforms, they chose LearnWorlds, which met their functionality needs while offering a cost-effective rate.
It’s clear their focus was to create a user-friendly, intuitive experience, especially for brokers who may not be particularly tech savvy. Every feature in the new system was chosen with the user in mind.
A Better Experience and Stronger Engagement
The revamped LMS allows brokers to customize their experience by purchasing an individual course or a bundle, giving them flexibility and control over their learning journey.
Just one year into implementation, ICBR and CREA are already surpassing previous sales benchmarks as the new LMS delivers an enhanced learning experience that allows brokers to easily access quality CE courses from the office and at home.
Education That Scales and Supports
Year after year, ICBR and CREA have made education a top priority. This LMS transformation project was less about software and was more about embodying the organization’s core values and commitment to the industry.
The project ensured that Indiana commercial real estate brokers could complete their continuing education with guidance from industry experts, helping to elevate the overall standard of professional development across the field.
