Director of Membership

This position will play a key role in developing, implementing and managing the strategic initiatives built to increase member retention, promote innovative programs and services, and execute people‐focused events.

Primary Responsibilities:

Member Services:

  • Oversee member management system usage to meet Association mission and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Demonstrate proficient understanding of association membership requirements, benefits and value proposition and be able to articulate to prospective members.
  • Work with ICBR team to continually inform members of services and benefits of membership.
  • Regularly review membership information on ICBR website to ensure accuracy and update as needed.

Member Engagement:

  • Participate in and contribute to program development and evaluation conversations aimed at improving the member experience and creating value for members.
  • Develop and implement member engagement initiatives including volunteer recruitment/retention, encouraging members to participate in events, programs and services, and members renewal and recruitment efforts.
  • Compile information to facilitate membership engagement initiatives such as survey data, contact lists, member information and feedback, and industry information.
  • Ensure exceptional member onboarding experience and engagement efforts in the first two years of membership and work with Sr. Coordinator of Member Services to implement.
  • Coordinate implementation of membership renewal process.
  • Compile and analyze membership renewal reports.

Membership Marketing

  • Identify prospective new members and customers for the association and its products.
  • Manage prospective member lists and coordinate follow‐up activities.
  • Oversee the creation of membership materials for prospects and new members.
  • Provide direction and approval of membership materials for prospects and new members.
  • Continual learning about members/subscribers/attendees through surveys, focus groups, and research in order to inform marketing strategies. Develop, oversee and drive campaigns and action plans directed at increasing and/or retaining the Association’s membership while providing implementation guidance to Membership Coordinator.
  • Develop and implement campaigns directed at generating event‐related income through attendee registrations, sponsorships, and other identifiable sources.
  • Review and approve membership recruitment and retention materials created by Marketing Coordinator;
  • Contribute to association “internal” articles for enews, including newly joined members, programs and services, and meeting summaries, as needed.

Volunteer Leadership Support

  • Attend, provide staff support, and participate in Board of Directors meetings.
  • Assist in production of meeting materials, reports and dashboards related to ICREX and membership efforts.
  • Assist and participate in development of strategic plan and initiatives.
  • Lead special taskforces and focus groups related to membership and program research and development.
  • Participate in ICREX Committee meetings.
  • Offer staff perspective on organizational priorities and challenges.
  • Motivate, manage and serve District Representatives in the execution of organization strategy.
    • Schedule and conduct quarterly conference calls with District Representatives.
    • Create and maintain district representative action list and follow up through completion.
    • Coordinate completion of quarterly District Representative reports to the Board of Directors.
    • Coordinate with District Representatives on the speakers and locations for district events.


  • Maintain an in‐depth knowledge of ICREX software platform functionality, features and value proposition.
  • Provide one‐on‐one support to ICREX users via phone and email.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain usage documentation, best practices, and training plans.
  • Determine, plan and conduct in‐person and online marketing events and training sessions.
  • Collect user feedback for ICREX to inform future system updates.
  • Update monthly benchmarking reports related to ICREX subscribers, active listings, and market saturation.
  • Work with Executive Director to determine future needs for software based on industry research and user feedback.
  • Manage, distribute, review and produce ICREX awards program at annual conference.


  • Compile member feedback on ICBR events and education sessions.
  • Work with Executive Director to determine topics and speakers for online CE courses and Hot Topic Events.
  • Coordinate the scheduling and recording of online CE courses.

Industry Engagement:

  • Schedule and conduct quarterly Partner Organization meetings.
  • Coordinate completion of quarterly Partner Organization reports to the Board of Directors.

Annual Conference:

  • Attend the Indiana Commercial Real Estate Conference and provide staff support to Meetings Coordinator.
  • Coordinate membership recruitment and engagement efforts before, during and after annual conference.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Applicant should demonstrate the ability to coordinate all phases of the Association’s member service and benefit
    programs and be able to work in close harmony with the Chief Executive Officer and other staff members, and have:
  • Education level of a Bachelor’s Degree and three to five years related work experience or equivalent Ability to handle multiple, concurrent tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to create and drive operational plans
  • Experience analyzing customer data and feedback to develop relevant programs.
  • Ability to learn and master new software applications.
  • Public speaking acumen including training and presentations.
  • Ability to research information and solutions.
  • Ability to work with, motivate, and influence a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a professional, effective and collaborative relationship with staff, members, volunteer leadership and partner organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail while keeping the overall goals of a project in mind.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Proficient in most Microsoft Office applications (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Reporting Responsibility:

Supervision and performance evaluations of this position shall be the responsibility of the RGI‐assigned Executive Director/CEO.
