We are seeking a full time employee to serve as a Director of Membership. Excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create and drive overall membership strategy directed at increasing and retaining members
  • Understand and propose ways to effectively communicate the association’s value proposition to current and potential members
  • Oversee all membership and dues‐related processes and procedures
  • Oversee as well as conduct follow‐up with non‐renewed members
  • Research the needs and views of current and potential members
  • Coordinate and maintain active prospect database and system of communication
  • Conduct regular, effective perspective member calls and contacts
  • Create and drive member engagement initiatives to increase member engagement including providing benchmarking metrics and proactively communicating with prospects
  • In coordination with communication staff, oversee the creation of membership materials for prospective, new and retained members Identify and recommend member benefits/opportunities/services that strengthen value to members
  • Oversee AMS usage to meet Association mission and strategic planning initiatives
  • Contribute written articles to association publications
  • Serve as staff liaison to the membership committee and other volunteer committees
  • Provide regular reports to the board and staff related to membership including recommending and collecting key performance indicators as well as maintaining historical trends analysis
  • Assist in development of association’s annual budget


  • Ability to convert organization’s strategic plan to operational tactics needed to execute the plan
  • Proven ability to create and drive membership plan
  • Proven volunteer management experience
  • Strong relationship management expertise
  • Ability to handle multiple, concurrent tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in navigating and utilizing an AMS
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail while keeping the overall goals of a project in mind
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Education level of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and at least five years related work experience
